Jaxlookout wants to help ensure openness, honesty, integrity and ethics in government. We are an all volunteer-staffed entity working for clear, easy-to-understand reporting. Our goal is to provide helpful content for those who want to follow the government workings of Jacksonville, Florida.
Our city spends more than $6 billion of the people’s money each year. We think the people should be able to see how and why it’s done.
Our agenda is to inform the citizens of our great city about the dealings and decisions made every day in their name. As traditional media has fallen by the wayside, and unreliable and irresponsible “sharing” of information proliferates, we hope to make a difference by watching and reporting on what is really happening.
When we publish any story, we make every effort to ensure that the facts are as observed and the opinions are clearly labeled.
This is a virtual organization and we are open to considering story ideas and article contributions from readers. We could also use some volunteers to help cover city meetings. Many of these can be viewed online at the COJ website, so it’s not always necessary to head downtown. Although it’s hard to beat the ambiance of a public meeting. If you are interested in pitching in, see our Article Guidelines.
