In a strongly worded statement, Our Jax describes the current Lot J deal as “rigged,” and urges citizens to join their effort to stop approval by City Council.
City Council’s Committee of the Whole, which has been reviewing the taxpayer subsidized deal negotiated by Mayor Lenny Curry and his administration, will meet again on January 7, 2021. It’s possible that the Committee will, if 13 members agree, move the Lot J bill to the full Council for approval as early as Tuesday, January 12, 2021. Once the measure is moved out of committee to the full Council for a vote, a simple majority of ten members are needed to approve the legislation.
